Inside my head

(More blog entries from kellykelly)

Someone suggested that the Environmental Design for Crown Point was actually like looking inside my mind. I don't know who came up with that - Joel, Chris, Lex - who knows. But today I saw pics and video that will affect the video component of the Env Design. And whoa - what is in my head.

Its all Joel actually - not meaning Joel is in my head.  Joel is really the creative force behind this entire aspect - from the video to scenic to sound scape - its all his mediations on things and how they come into a physical reality.  I'd like to think its the collective unconscious of the who festival itself that really feeds this and interprets it out through the divining rod that is Joel Lawrence aka Lord Easy.

Looking at the pictures this morning I am awestruck. And frankly it does creep me out a little - not because of anything spooky - but more so the synchronicity of how all these forms are coming together - and the forms leading around the fest both personally, privately and so to be public.  I'm not trying to be cryptic and vague.  At the end of this, this is probably just going to be something that people will look at and think, cool.  Maybe some will think whatever.

I don't care what y'all think.  I think what Joel and the Env Team has done is pretty rad and nobody in this town does anything like it.

To wrap up today - in my attempts to take it a little easy and carry on some birthday bliss  - I got a great massage yesterday after our staff meeting the kind that drops your voice into your belly -if  you've had vocal training or do yoga you know what I mean.

But some things have been swirling around in my brain of all that's coming together:

 - Watching Madeline Maby dance beautifully in Girl Detective rehearsals
 - meeting Jarrod, an actor from the play IXOMIA, who talked with Chris and me about what its like having his own theater company
 - Oliver, Kyle and Clay all telling me to call David Cody at Time Out - since Time Out is going to cover Crown Point Music they should definitely cover theater (healthy competition rocks)
 - watching the nuances and subtleties of Jack and Michele's acting in The Tailers - and Lauren's dead on direction
 - talking with Maria Rosenblum - filmmaker of Magnetic Poles - about capturing the fest on site and how we're putting some special things together for Nov 8 & 9
 - Working with Figo who'll be DJing Nov 10 t incorporate projection and even a lot of the films in their set

I love what we have here - I get the best birthday present ever.

You know what this blog is missing? some Tailer with an E action. :) Tailers with an E is my favorite part of the festival. Can I get a T shirt that says that?
