About a hedgehog and a fox
(More blog entries from JesseSour)
There’s an old story , apparently, about a hedgehog and a fox (just kidding, I have no idea where it came from, aside from the photocopied manual I got at a ‘leadership retreat’ I went to once. Which is a funny, nearly paradoxical word when you think about it). I don’t know the story, but I do know that, in it, the fox is passable at a myriad of activities, while the hedgehog is phenomenal at one thing.
ANYWAY, point is, you want to be the hedgehog, or, more specifically, you want to find your hedgehog. Your hedgehog is the thing that you a) are the best in the world (or whatever) at, b) are able to best get your resources around (or in the for profit world: what makes the most money) and c) you are passionate about. The point at which all those three converge is your hedgehog.
So, whatever, we all have our hedgehogs and when you find yours, it’s like your happy thoughts and you can fly. Great.
ANYWAY, it is pretty darn apparent that Crown Point’s hedgehog is the ability to get artists from theater, film and music in the same room together to showcase the fruits of their labor. And that’s wicked exciting.
Which brings me to the elephant in your closet, or whatever that metaphor is supposed to be:
We of course did not put up our summer sampler as planned. The details of our decision are rather soporific, but in retrospect it had a lot to do with our hedgehog.
Sure it would have been great to put up another sampler, everyone loves them, we have a great time, but our hedgehog is not a sampler. It’s the festival.
We have our curators curating away, reading, listening and watching. The submissions have been flying in, up to our July 7th deadline.
Why?
Because this year’s fest is going to be sick. Yes, that’s right, sick. Don’t call it a comeback, cuz we never left the house. Boyeee.
Stay tuned for exact dates and locations.
Cheers,
Jesse
