About : Applications
The 2009 Crown Point Festival will take place in November. All applicants from 2008 will be considered for this year's festival as well.
This year, we have made the decision to accept applications only from New York City based artists. While we cherish and value the submissions and artists with whom we have previously worked, in order to pursue our goal of fostering and contributing to the New York City community of artists, it has become necessary to focus on local talent in the festival. The reality is that there are still not enough opportunities in New York City for emerging artists and as a small organization, we don't have the resources to transport and house artists outside of the five boroughs.
Additionally, submissions for the festival will also be considered (with the applicant's permission) for our April and July Sampler events. Although we understand that some applicants are interested only in being a part of the festival itself, in order to serve all degrees of 'emerging' artists, we also recognize that the more slots that are open means higher likelihood of being considered and opportunities for development and industry cultivation for the artists.
The final application for the festival is due on July 7th.
If you would like to be considered for the July 7th Sampler, please submit by June 7th.
2009 Festival Applications Due: July 7th
Decisions will be made by September 1st.
Finally, with the success of our January 31st Artist Forum, we plan on holding several other forums in the months running up to the festival. These are great chances to sit down with some complimentary breakfast snacks, coffee and a bunch of motivated, talented fellow artists to talk and discuss your work, your community and how organizations like Crown Point Festival can better evolve and adapt to suit the ever changing landscape of the New York artistic and cultural scene.
All applicants will have a standing invite to one of these forums, and artists' whose work is accepted into the festival will receive the opportunity for private forums, involving only fellow accepted artists.
