About : Who We Are
Crown Point is the only multi-media festival of its kind set in downtown New York City. It is known for its scrutiny to curate the best mix of film, theater and music and apply an original programming style interweaving all 3 forms together. Crown Point engages its audience by fusing art and party, entertainment and nightlife.
Significant and unique attributes of Crown Point include:
- Programming all three art forms together for each performance. An example would be to program one performance to begin with a 15 minute one act play followed by an 60 minute film followed by a 30 minute live music set – while a DJ plays briefly in between – to seamlessly tie the show together. We provide the audience with an exhilarating, consistently engaging experience.
- Selected works are shown in rotation allowing for variety, exposure and different contexts while not conforming to themes or forcing narratives.
- Programing different genres from each medium:
Films: narrative, documentary, animation, experimental; short and feature length, videos and films, and music videos
Theater: classical, contemporary, avant garde; one acts and full length
Music: rock, hip hop, classical, country, pop, folk, jazz; singer/songwriters, DJs, and bands - No submission fees for artists. Crown Point requests applicants to obtain a referral to ensure their experience and professionalism.
- Fully producing theatrical work and managing technical requirements to ensure high production standards.
- The festival is non-competitive seeking only to program work that is considered quality and relevant. We believe in community over competition.
- The audience is encouraged to hang out before and after the show. The space is transformed by video, light and sound design that create a unique, exciting environment.
We are the annual cultural festival of the Lower East Side.
